Community Grant Recipient Spotlight
PALS for Health is funded by Susan G.
Komen LA County to provide interpretation services for breast cancer support
and assistance for newly and previously diagnosed LEP women and men. During the
first six months of the current reporting period, PALS was able to serve ninety-nine individuals. Eighty percent of the interpretation encounters were for breast
cancer screenings and/or diagnostic services, while the remaining twenty
percent were for patients undergoing breast cancer treatment or follow-up care
and ten percent for psychosocial support services.

for research aimed at finding new ways to detect, treat and prevent breast
cancer, and services that ensure everyone in the Los Angeles County has access
to quality care when they need it.
At no cost to you, Komen will
arrange to pick-up your car, truck, boat, motorcycle, RV or other qualified
vehicle in Los Angeles. Upon sale, we will provide you proper tax forms. Our
customer service representatives are available to assist you through the
process and may be reached by calling 877-775-6636 (877-77-KOMEN).

Thank You Spotlight
Health Net and Susan G. Komen LA County Partnership
Susan G. Komen LA County has partnered with the Health Net
insurance company to identify female patients from highly impacted areas in need
of mammograms. Through this collaborative effort, Health Net
patients can receive screenings in their own local community.
By helping to meet the breast health needs of the Los Angeles
community, we are furthering our commitment to achieving our Bold Goal of reducing
the current number of breast cancer deaths by 50%. It is through screenings
that finding breast cancer early, when it’s easiest to treat, can save lives,
and ultimately reduce the number of breast cancer deaths.
