Mission

Save lives by meeting the most critical needs in our communities and investing in breakthrough research to prevent and cure breast cancer.

Our Bold Goal is to reduce the current number of breast cancer deaths by 50% in the U.S. by 2026.

Our Mission Pillars at Work

Action Pillar.jpg

On September 18, Susan G. Komen launched the Center for Public Policy at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. The purpose of the Center for Public Policy is to provide a platform for everyone who has been touched by breast cancer, including survivors, those women and men who are currently living with the disease, especially those living with metastatic breast cancer, as well as their loved ones, to come together and give voice to the needs of breast cancer patients and advocate for public policy solutions to address those needs.

You can make a difference! Learn how you can become a breast cancer advocate and how you can ask your representatives to support current Bills and Acts advocating for breast cancer patients’ rights!

We thank our supporters for investing in our mission – to help us do more for research, more for our communities, more for caring for those living with breast cancer – including metastatic breast cancer – and more action to get us to a cure.

Social Support for Children

MTPW Child.jpg

Social support is very important while dealing with breast cancer. Susan G. Komen has a whole page dedicated to social support. One group that may need extra support are children who might have a strong emotional response to a parent’s breast cancer diagnosis.  One wonderful resource for children is Camp Kesem. This camp for children is in many states and is specific for children with a parent who has or has had cancer. Read more about support for children and the link to Camp Kesem here.
