ISSUE: January 2020
Mission
Save lives by meeting the most critical needs in our communities and investing in breakthrough research to prevent and cure breast cancer.
Our Bold Goal is to reduce the current number of breast cancer
deaths by 50% in the U.S. by 2026.
Give the Gift of Time
Every
year in Los Angeles County
1,000 individuals
are diagnosed with breast cancer and
4,000
individuals die from the disease.
Help
fellow LA County neighbors living with breast cancer by making a tax-deductible
gift to Komen LA County to continue providing access to quality care services
and critical breast health screenings.
Early
detection helps save lives. Will you help save a life?

7th Annual Metastatic Breast Cancer Conference
Dine Out for the Cure
Many
thanks to the 11 local restaurants and food trucks for helping us raise $5,805
through our Dine Out for the Cure program this past October during Breast
Cancer Awareness Month!
By
combining their love for food and passion for supporting our community, our
participating restaurants and food trucks help us do more for research and for
those living with breast cancer – including metastatic breast cancer - and
bringing us closer to a cure!
Metastatic Breast Cancer Access to Care Act (S.
1374/H.R. 2178)
Under current law, patients are subject to waiting 5
months for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and 24 months for
Medicare benefits. This is #unacceptable. Use your voice and ask your
representative to cosponsor the MBC Access to
Care Act so patients don't have to wait.
The Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) Fact Sheet is a great resource to learn about TNBC – who gets it, prognosis and treatment options and questions to ask your doctor.
Access to Breast Cancer Diagnosis Act (H.R. 2428)
This new Komen-led legislation works to eliminate cost sharing for
medically-necessary diagnostic imaging. Take action to save lives, and ask your
representative to cosponsor the ABCD Act!
