Thank you for your continued support of Susan G. Komen Los Angeles County. Here at Komen, October is Breast Cancer Action Month, and our organization is working with a renewed purpose. We are excited to share some updates from our CEO, Dr. Judith Salerno.

"On the eve of Susan G. Komen’s 35th anniversary, we are more impatient than ever to end breast cancer. Despite tremendous progress against this disease, more than 40,000 women and men still die of breast cancer every year in the United States. We can do better. We can reduce the current number of breast cancer deaths by 50 percent in the U.S. We can do it within one decade. And we will do so, by drawing on our unparalleled leadership in research and advocacy, and by working to ensure that every person has access to, and receives, timely high-quality breast cancer care. This is Susan G. Komen’s new direction. This is our Bold Goal."

Volunteer Opportunities for September and Beyond
Mammogram events are an opportunity for woman over 40 who are uninsured and underinsured to receive a lifesaving no-cost mammogram. Volunteers will sign women in at the registration table. Two volunteers are needed for each Mammo Event.

Health Fairs allow us to collaborate with other organizations to provide breast health education, breast health materials as well as local breast health resources for woman in Los Angeles communities. Two volunteers are needed for each Outreach Event.

Our annual Metastatic Breast Cancer Conference is open to metastatic breast cancer patients and their caregiver. Six volunteers are needed for this event.

Dress Code for all volunteer Events: Komen t-shirt or Pink Attire
Materials for each event: Volunteers can pick up materials at the Komen Office or arrange a time and place for staff to deliver.
