ESPERANZA COMMUNITY HOUSING AND WATTS FOUNDATION HOLD COMMUNTY HEALTH FAIR

Esperanza for NL.JPG

On August 19th Susan G. Komen LA County in partnership with Esperanza Community Housing and Watts Health Center came together to provide no-cost mammograms to women in Los Angeles. Maria Tejeda, community outreach worker, said that the event was “very informative and educational.” Virginia, a breast cancer survivor, enjoyed volunteering for Komen and is planning her own Breast Cancer Awareness event in October! Women came to the health fair event and received information on risk factors, free community resources and upcoming mammogram events. The mobile unit provided free mammograms for 12 women! Thank you to Esperanza Community Housing and Watts Health Center for helping us make a difference.

LOCAL RESOURCES ARE AVAILABLE FOR YOU

Every day we work not only to end breast cancer forever but to provide local resources and services for cancer patients to make their journey less of a burden. Earlier this month, a caregiver looking for free house cleaning resource for a cancer patient commented about a wonderful resource she was provided by Susan G. Komen LA:

“Thank you so much for this information as well as telling me about Cleaning for a Reason. They connected me with Maid in the USA and the staff are so committed to helping women in this difficult time and they are so compassionate and supportive of the caregivers in these women's lives. You are doing such important work and please know that it really does make a difference.” M. Barry
